He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer D. Matlock and Catherine Gaylor Matlock; and his sisters, Donna Holmes, Wanda Minick and Brenda Whitt.

He is survived by: his wife Reta Martin Matlock; his children, Michael Matlock (Stephanie) of Jackson, SC and Kim Middlebrooks (Ken); his grandchildren, Ashley Parrish (Jody), Jessica Matlock, Kenny Middlebrooks and Keaton Middlebrooks; his great grandchild Maggie Parrish; his siblings-in-law, Donald Holmes, Terry Hair and Pam McKenzie; and his close friends, Ken and Gloria Yonce.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Pine View Baptist Church, 2424 Williston Rd., New Ellenton, SC 29809 or Gideons International (gideons.org).
