He was predeceased by: his parents, Beulah Mae Brooks and Thomas Clarence Whitfield. He is survived by: his spouse Delight Roann Thompson Whitfield; his children, Lance D. Whitfield of Abbeville, Brian Douglas Whitfield (Lilia) of North Charleston, Cathy Geddings of Anderson, Katria L. Whitfield, Robin Ann Freemantle (Richard E.) of Williamston and Lisa Rae Dunlap (Lance) of Indianapolis, IN; and his sisters, Rose McCoy of Flemingsburg, KY and Wanda Gulley of Charlottesville, IN. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren.
