It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Pete Smith Sr. in Abbeville, South Carolina, born in Greenwood, South Carolina, who passed away on August 8, 2020, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Janie Schumpert Smith; his parents, Richard Hogan and Lillian Dickerson Smith; and his siblings, Nancy Leagan and Charles Allen Smith.
He is survived by: his son Richard E. "Ricky" Smith, Jr. (Kelly) of Hineville, GA; his sister Sue Ann Bickley (James Ray) of Prosperity; and his nieces, Diane Bryan, Sheila Whedbee, Donna Counts and Rhonda Bickley. He is also survived by two grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
