He was predeceased by: his parents, Bill Carpenter and Hazel Carpenter. He is survived by: his daughters, Catherine C. Carpenter (David) of Wisconsin and Elizabeth A. Wicklund (Matthew) of Colorado; and his stepsons, Allen Hughes (Tonya) and Steve Hughes (Felicity) of South Carolina. He is also survived by six grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
