He was predeceased by: his father Jerry R. Holmes; his sister Brenda Taylor Blevins; his parents-in-law, George and Mary Morton; and his brother-in-law William Morton.
He is survived by: his spouse Ethelmay G. Holmes (Morton); his mother Wanda Taylor (Combs); his children, Michael R. Holmes, Jr., Howard J. Holmes (George W) and Tanya Holmes; his grandchildren, Dakota Holmes and George Holmes; his brother Timothy Holmes; and his siblings-in-law, Emily Jencks, Billy Jencks and George Baton.
