Edward J. Ouellette Sr. Obituary
Lt. Col. USAF (Ret.) Edward Joseph Ouellette, Sr., 75, of West Greenwich, formerly of North Kingstown, passed away with family by his side on Monday, July 4, 2022 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI. He was the husband of Carole H. (Hussey) Ouellette for 38 memorable years. On May 3, 1947 in Brunswick, ME, Edward was born the son of the late Joseph L. and Laurence M. (Duval) Ouellette.
Edward Joseph Ouellette enlisted into the Rhode Island Army National Guard on October 4, 1966 as a Military Policeman and performed duty in Korea. In August of 1986, he transferred to the Rhode Island Air National Guard into the 281st Combat Communications Group. While at the 281st, he served as the unit's First Sergeant and Personnel Superintendent. In 1981, he earned his commission and transferred to the 143rd Mission Support Flight where he served as Director of Personnel and eventually Commander. His last assignment was with the 143rd Mission Support Group as Deputy Commander, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Colonel Ouellette served during Operation Enduring Freedom and inspired and mentored many peers and subordinates throughout his 40 years of dedicated and loyal service.
He is survived by his wife: Carole H. (Hussey) Ouellette of West Greenwich four sons: Steven and his wife Meghan, Robert and his wife Voula, Richard and Eddie; six grandchildren: Alyssa, Dylan, Angela, Caroline, Kelsey and Harrison and a brother: Paul Ouellette and his wife Susan. He is predeceased by his sister, Estelle Paquin.
A Catholic Prayer Service will take place at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, RI on Saturday, July 9 at 9:45 a.m. Burial to follow with military honors in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
Calling hours will be Friday, July 8 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, RI.
