He was predeceased by: his parents, James E. Mellen and Virginia Mellen (Grenier); and his brother James Mellen. He is survived by: his children, Brenda L. Furtado of Riverside, Bernice M. Mellen of South Carolina, Brad E. Mellen of Warwick and Brian P. Mellen of North Carolina; and his sisters, Virginia Short of Florida, Claire Downey of Cranston and Joan Winfield. He is also survived by three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
