He was predeceased by: his parents, Manuel Tavares and Bertha Tavares (Green); and his grandson Steven Lizotte. He is survived by: his wife Judy Tavares (Minor); his children, Patricia Tavares of Acushnet, MA, Robert Tavares, Jr. of New Bedford and Tristan Tavares of Warren; his stepson William Blais (Kara) of Warren; his siblings, Barbara Mullen of Southbury, CT, Shirley Wordell of Fall River and David Tavares of Coronado, CA.; his grandchildren, Erica Forit of Bellingham, MA and Michael Holmes; and his stepgrandson Robert Leone of Warren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
