He was predeceased by: his parents, Madeleine Hoisington Cox and Alfred Arthur Companion; his sister Janet Cheney of Dinwiddie, VA; and his niece JoAnn McCoy of Bracey, VA.. He is survived by: his wife Marie Bergantini Companion; and his children, Kirk Companion (M. Erica Zimmer) of Boston, MA and Dr. Michele Companion (Howard Bufkin) of Colorado Springs, CO..
