He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward C. Sampson Sr. and Mary Sampson (Carreiro); his wife Dorothy May Sampson (Baker); his son Jonathan Sampson; his siblings, Marjorie Fortier and Ronald Sampson; and his cousin Lorraine.

He is survived by: his children, Jennifer Sousa (Joseph) of Warren, RI, Nicole Sampson (Brian Gray) of Rumford, RI, Hannah Sampson of Warren, RI and Douglas Sampson (Bethanie) of Warren, RI; his siblings, Robert Sampson (Margaret) of Warren, RI and Marguerite MacDougall of Warren, RI; and his grandchildren, Liona, Rhiannon, Jillian, Derek, Raegan, Dakota, Lauren, Ryann and Chandler.
