She was predeceased by: her parents, Manuel Ferreira and Mary Ferreira (Mello); her husband David R. Shears Sr.; her son David Roger Shears Jr.; and her brother Manuel Ferreira.

She is survived by: her sons, Ronald James Shears (Deborah) of Warren, Richard Allan Shears of Warren and James Allen Shears of Warren; and her siblings, Joseph Ferreira (Jean) of Warwick, John Ferreira of Cranston, Dennis Ferreira (Valerie), Connie Dzierzanowski (Eddy), Irene Violet (Robert) and Mary Lou Otey of Providence. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
