He was predeceased by: his parents, James J., Jr. and Patricia Downey (Doyle); and his sibling Patience Palazio. He is survived by: his wife Judith K. Downey (Boardman); his children, Jennifer A. Sanford (Raymond) of Falmouth, MA, Heather A. Downey of Nantucket, MA, Shawn P. Downey (Meaghan) of Falmouth, MA, Ryan E. Downey (Kiraz) and Rebecca E. Orellana (Carson) of Sandwich, MA; his siblings, James J. Downey, III of Wakefield, RI, Tricia Downey of Hopkinton, RI and Joseph "Michael" Downey of Charlestown, RI; his grandchildren, Jayson, Justyn of Tahlia, DJ, Seamus, Ava, Carson III, Harrison and Jack; and his great grandchild Cameron.
