He is survived by: his wife Norma Paterson (Carlton); his children, Leah Paterson-Smith, Tracey Paterson-Ovian (Craig A. Ovian), Jill Paterson (Richard B. Iannitelli) and Walter R. Paterson; his grandchildren, Alexandra J. Iannitelli, Travis Lee Smith, Benjamin R. Iannitelli and Farah Rose Smith; and his siblings, Elizabeth Gould, R. Bruce Paterson, Barbara Ferguson, Nancy Lewis and Patricia Rathbun.
