We are sad to announce that on June 20, 2024, at the age of 86, Orlando L. Borges of Smithfield, Rhode Island passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He is survived by: his children, Cecilia A. Borges and Paul M. Borges; his parents, Maria Soares Leal and Manuel C. Borges; his brother Antonio Borges; his wife Irene Paim (Borges) of Melo; his daughter Teresa Borges (Gary Drinkwater); his grandchildren, Sarah LaPorte and J. J. LaPorte; his great grandchild Emery; and his brother Manuel Borges.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael's Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield, RI 02917, in his memory.

I did not personally know the fine gentleman, but while shopping in a thrift shop here in Morehead City, N.C., I found a beautiful collection of author Agatha Christie's books..I purchased the entire set and have so enjoyed reading them, and giving some as gifts, as they are in pristine condition. The books are embossed with a circular emblem with, "Orlando L. Borges OLB." Just thought you might like to know a booklover appreciates this gift.”
