With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Jose Nunes Mendes of Rumford, Rhode Island, who passed away on October 25, 2023 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose D. Mendes and Ermelinda Mendes (Nunes); and his brothers, Abel Mendes and Peter Mendes. He is survived by: his wife Maria C. Mendes (Paulo); his children, Dennis Mendes (Alison) of Rumford and Edith Zitrides (George) of Laughlin, Nevada.; and his siblings, Ramiro "Ray" Mendes of Rumford and Mary Martins of East Providence. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
