He was predeceased by: his spouse Willie Mae Carter (Knox); and his sons, Melvin Jr. Carter and Henry Ray Carter. He is survived by: his son Kelvin Wayne of Providence; and his sister Lillie Mae Fields of Shreveport Louisiana. He is also survived by four grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
