With profound sadness, we say goodbye to James E. Maher Jr. (Providence, Rhode Island), whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. James left this world on March 29, 2025 at the age of 84, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
Though James may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those James touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Rosemary Maher (Hanrahan); his parents, James E. Maher Sr. and Helen Maher (McFadden); his siblings, Christine Shelhart (late Jack) of Bristol, Colleen Maher Hourahan (Walter) of Narragansett, Kathleen Maher McKendall (George) of Providence and Thomas Maher of Waltham, MA; and his friend Bill W.. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, April 4th 2025 from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home (331 Smith St, Providence, RI 02908). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, April 4th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Raymond Church (1240 N Main St, Providence, RI 02904).
