He was predeceased by: his parents, John Bono and Agnes McLeren; and his siblings, William McCurley, Mary Tietz and Elizabeth Dwyer.

He is survived by: his wife Geraldine McCurley (Bombardier); his sons, James J. McCurley (Jennifer) of Greensboro and Shawn McCurley (Hillary) of Cumberland; and his grandchildren, Addison McCurley and Nora McCurley.

He devoted his time volunteering at the Hotel for Homeless Dogs in Cumberland where he would foster dogs and often arranged for numerous donations to support the shelter.
