He was predeceased by: his parents, William H. Brophy and Margaret Brophy (Gilmore); and his brothers, Donald J., Charles G., Raymond P., William H., James H., Robert A. and Edward J. Brophy.
He is survived by: his wife Gertrude H. Brophy (Gill); his daughters, Margaret A. Cleary (Michael) of Boston, MA and Maureen B. Galster (Peter) of Wickford, RI.; and his grandchildren, Meghan B. Cleary of Hoboken, NJ, Kathleen G. Cleary (Dan DePietro) of Philadelphia, PA, Margaret A. Galster of Providence, RI and Thomas A. Galster of Newport, RI.. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
