He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Cathleen Nagle Purdy; his parents, Doris Purdy and Walter Purdy; his brothers, Robert Purdy and Charlie Purdy; and his children, Walter Purdy III of Fairfax, Elizabeth Bastiani of Wilmington, NC, Cathleen Farrea of Portsmouth, Anne Purdy Dzwill and Patricia Ryan. He was also cherished by 13 grandchildren.
