He is survived by: his sons, Daniel P. Fanning, Jr. of Wallingford, VT, Michael Fanning (Jenny) of Ada, MI and Thomas Fanning (Carolyn) of Needham, MA; his brother Charles "Gus" Fanning (June); his grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary (Holly), Timothy, Rachel, Norah, Jane, Molly and Owen; his great grandchildren, Cassidy and Levi; and his son John David Fanning.
