She was predeceased by: her spouse E. Francis McGovern; her parents, Rowland Sherman and Elizabeth "Betty" Sherman; her daughter Carol Ann McGovern; and her siblings, Gardner Sherman, Ronald Sherman, George Sherman, Neil Sherman, Sally M. Reposa and Emily Richards.
She is survived by: her sister Elizabeth "Dolly" Lillibridge; her children, David J. McGovern, Deputy Chief and Captain William F. (Ret); and her grandson Sergeant Ryan F. McGovern. She is also survived by six grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren as well as a large extended family.
