She was loved and cherished by many people including: her mother Candida Alves; her former husband John Alexandre Costa; her children, Maria Costa and Eugene João DaCosta; her spouse Viriato Alves; her children, Oliver, Jose "Joe", John Alves and Candida Alves; her siblings-in-law, Zulmira Alves, Louise Alves, Mary Alves, Steven Santos, Skip Dorsey and Domingo Monteiro; her grandchildren, John, Deanna Alves, Jennifer, Jose "Joey", David Alves, Christopher, Ryan, Kaitlyn Alves, Steven, Aaron Santos, Marisa Alves, Gian, Jason Monteiro and Jerin Alves; and her great grandchildren, Jaliyah Alves, Kalia Alves, Sharai Polanco, Tolynd Valdelamar Brody, Caden, Bella, Maise Alves, Lennides, Khaleesi Alves, Tenaia Santos, Fabian, Lucia Mota, Imaiah Alves Campos, I, Lannie Alves and Zavien Campos. She was also cherished by nieces and nephews.
For the last decade of her life, Maria has resided at Steere House Nursing Home, where she survived two bouts with Covid, before succumbing to unrelated illnesses.
In lieu of flowers, the family humbly asks that donations be made out to Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center (Nursing Home) - 100 Borden St. Providence, RI.
