He was predeceased by: his parents, James R. McCaughey and Rita A. McCaughey (Daniels); and his brother John "Jack" McCaughey. He is survived by: his wife Nancy McCaughey (McClurg); his children, James R. McCaughey III of New York, Susan Beuck of Florida, Andrew McCaughey of Texas, Jessica Oatley of West Greenwich and Kate Dingley of Lincoln; and his siblings, Mary Ridolfi of Lincoln, Frances Lees of Alabama and Gerald McCaughey of Taunton. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
