He is survived by: his wife Maria Salome Afonseca; his sister Danielle De Afonseca; and his children, Sonia Afonseca, Ligia Afonseca, Suzy Afonseca, Dulcelina Afonseca-Machado, Danilo Afonseca, Durval Afonseca and Donaldo Afonseca. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.
