He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Johnson and Daisy Johnson (Williams); and his in-laws, Marguerite and Brendan Darcy. He is survived by: his wife Robin J. Darcy; his brothers-in-law, Tom Darcy (Sue) and Michael Darcy (Linda); his nieces, Meaghan Bryan (David), Courtney Quinn (Kevin) and Brooke Darcy; his great-nephews, Connor, Declan, Van and Duke; his great-niece Shay; and his friend Howland Green.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Verne's memory to MJFF for Parkinson's Research, HopeHealth Hospice, or The Army Emergency Relief Fund.
