He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Cecile Knott and William Knott; his wife Donna L. Knott (Grinnell); his children, Marc Thayer (Mary), Deanna Perry, Derek Thayer, Kelly Sturdevant (Charles), Jeremy Thayer (Shanna) and Bethany Knott (Daniel); and his siblings, James Knott, Karen DiLauro, Carol Urban and Carl Knott. He was also cherished by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
