He was predeceased by: his parents, John M. Shorts and Mary Shorts (Medina); and his siblings, John Shorts, Mary Shorts, Theresa Roderick, Richard Shorts, Milton Shorts, James Shorts, Gertrude Dias, Margaret Seals and Mary Allen.
He is survived by: his wife Dolores C. Shorts (Ramsdell); his children, Raymond N. Shorts (Lillian), John M. Shorts (Patsy), Kevin R. Varella, Sr. (Pamela) and Nadine V. Bennett; and his siblings, Paul Shorts, Liberty "Bubby" Delgado, Victoria "Vicky" Vaz and Madeline Shorts. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.
