He was predeceased by: his wife Sofia Leitao (Cordeiro); and his parents, Manuel and Nascimento. He is survived by: his brothers, Antonio Leitao of Pawtucket, R. I. and Edmundo Leitao of Azores; his grandchildren, Monica Tavares, Justin Tavares and Jeremy Tavares; and his great grandchildren, Jose Medeiros, Isaiah Medeiros, Zaryan Tavares and Adeline Tavares. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
