He was predeceased by: his wife Maria Theresa Amaral (Eugenio); his parents, Joao F. Amaral and Adelina Conceicao Amaral (Costa); and his sibling Joaquim Amaral. He is survived by: his sons, Daniel E. Amaral (Filomena) of Rumford, Robert E. Amaral (Mary Jo Nelson) of Rumford, Victor E. Amaral (Stephanie) of Warwick and Edward E. Amaral (Susan Traverse) of East Providence; and his siblings, Maria Jose Medeiros, Gustavo Amaral, Manuel Amaral, Laudalina Alves, Maria Travao, Lidia Amaral, Joao Amaral and Carlos Amaral. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and one great grandchild.
