He was predeceased by: his parents, Maurice W. Cotton Sr. and Nina Cotton (Potter); and his siblings, Charles Cotton and Alison Dearden. He is survived by: his wife Sally J. Cotton (Paige); his children, James D. Purcell of Cumberland, Michael W. Cotton of Cumberland, Patricia Scherer of Seekonk and Michelle Cotton of Seekonk; and his brother Joseph Cotton of Pembroke, MA. He is also survived by his two grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his nieces and nephews, as well as many family and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
