He is survived by: his parent Joseph Bates; his significant other Geraldine Baszner of Blackstone; his former wife Catherine Souza of Cumberland; his children, Michael A. Souza (Deborah Souza) of Woonsocket and Mark A. Souza (Nancy Souza) of Cumberland; his grandchildren, Katelyn Ann Souza, Nathan A. Souza and Jarryd W. Souza; his siblings, Joseph Bates and Robert Bates; and his friend Cape Cod. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
