He was predeceased by: his parents, Elsie Shorten, (Hindle) and Daniel W. Shorten, Jr.; and his sister Elaine Dame. He is survived by: his wife Madeleine R. Chaput; his children, Tracy Hoyle (Jay) of Lincoln, Susie Zonfrillo (Jeff) of Lincoln and William A. Shorten of Florida; his stepchildren, April Garcia of Cranston and Paul Chaput of North Providence; his siblings, Marilyn Massey of Alabama and Kenneth Shorten of Lincoln; and his grandchildren, Sara Hoyle, Neil Hoyle, Mason Zonfrillo, Lea Zonfrillo, Andre Chaput and Gabriella Garcia.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Hemodialysis Department at the Providence VA Medical Center, 830 Chalkstone Avenue, Providence, R.I. 02908 would be appreciated.
