He is survived by: his parents, Anthony Caran and Attillia Caran; his sibling Peter Caran; his spouse Esther Reilly Caran; his daughter Esther Caran Plouffe (William Plouffe); and his grandchildren, Matthew Plouffe and Essie Plouffe.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul.
