He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles W. Chappell and Gertrude W. Chappell (Robinson); his son James J. Chappell; and his brother David N. Chappell. He is survived by: his children, Roderick W. Chappell of West Greenwich, Susan R. Colvin of Coventry, Sandra H. Giles of Coventry, Melissa M. Chappell of West Warwick and Christopher S. Chappell; and his brothers, Charles G. Chappell of Providence and Clifford S. Chappell. He is also survived by five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
