He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Townsend and Josephine Townsend (Kulas); and his brother Robert Townsend. He is survived by: his children, Joseph Townsend, Ashley M. Townsend of Boston, MA and Bryan M. Mirto of Coventry; and his siblings, Daniel Townsend of West Greenwich, Ronald Townsend of Oklahoma and Lynn Townsend. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
