He was predeceased by: his parents, Willis Dowling and Elizabeth Dowling (Barlow); his son James W. Dowling Jr.; and his daughter-in-law Deborah A. Dowling (Kenyon). He is survived by: his wife Dorothy B. Dowling (Sanzi); his daughter Marjorie A. Garcia (Anthony) of Coventry, RI; his grandchildren, Kristen Capwell, Adreth Carlson, Byron Carlson and Catherine Dowling; and his sisters, Ruth Brady of Providence and Barbara Malloy of Providence. He is also survived by six great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
