He was predeceased by: his parent Herbert Smith; his stepparent Stanley Ripka; and his sibling Edgar Smith. He is survived by: his parent Hazel Ripka; his daughters, Cindy, Nancy and Maureen; his sons-in-law, Eric and John; his grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Cassidy, Lea and Savannah; his great grandchildren, Ellie and Emmy; and his sibling Doris Inman. He is also survived by three nieces and two nephews.
