He was predeceased by: his wife Mary C. Lima (Silvia); his parents, Joao M. Lima and Ermina S. Lima (Botelho); his son Francis "Frankie" Tavares; his granddaughter Anita Halko; and his siblings, Eduarda Medeiros, Luis Lima, Jose Lima, Henrique Lima and Estrella Caetano.
He is survived by: his son Richard Tavares (Nikki) of Bristol; his daughter-in-law Judi Tavares of Tiverton; his brother Joao Lima of Canada; his grandchildren, Dawn Ahrendt (Scott), Miki Toner (Scott), Ellie Tavares, Jill Fox (David), Mary Beth Tavares, Richard Tavares, Jr. and Katie Tavares; and his great grandchildren, Matthew Ahrendt, Courtney Perry (David), Brady Toner, Kyle Carney, Jackson Fox, Nolan Fox, Xavier Fox, Shea Fox and Walker Louchen.
A funeral service was held on Friday, December 27th 2024 at 9:00 AM at the George C. Lima Funeral Home (367 High St, Bristol, RI 02809). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, December 27th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the St. Elizabeth's Church (577 Wood St, Bristol, RI 02809). A burial was held on Friday, December 27th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the St. Mary's Cemetery.
