He was predeceased by: his parents, John Melchers and Afke Melchers (Van Der Zee); and his former wives, Anna Del Toro and Karen Perry. He is survived by: his wife Kathy (Paiva); and his stepchildren, Jesse Paiva (Diane), James Cabral, Raul Cabral, Dorothy Carriero (Alvaro), Jessica Thomas, Rebecca Cabral and Eileen Guerette (Roger).
