He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Edler Sr. and Sarah Edler (Trask); his daughter Karen Edler; and his sister Iva Blackburn. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Edler (Cusson); his children, Janice Edler (David Strippe) and Thomas Edler of Las Vegas, NV; his brother Raymond Edler (Mary) of Bristol; and his stepgrandchildren, Holly Shephard (Kris) and David Strippe, Jr.. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
