He was predeceased by: his wife Darlene J. Schmeltzle (Heil); his parents, Henry Schmeltzle and Sallie Schmeltzle (Miller); and his siblings, Paul, Minnie Anne Geist and Pauline Koach.

He is survived by: his sons, Robert C. Jr. (Carolyn Rhoads) and Randy A. (Elizabeth); his sister Mary Jane Rodenbach; his grandchildren, Audrey Parenti, Cody (Paige), Austin, Gabriel, Erica, Caleb, Ethan and Anneliese; and his great grandchild Aspen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be considered to the church.
