He was predeceased by: his wife Marcia Schmidt (Baum); and his parents, Louis Schmidt and Anna Schmidt (Pohl). He is survived by: his sons, Bruce A. Schmidt (Jaclyn) of Barto, PA and Andrew W. Schmidt (Mary) of Kintnersville, PA; his grandchildren, Meghan (Josh), Courtney, Caroline, Anna, Elizabeth, Emily and Benjamin; and his great grandchild Ronan.
