He was predeceased by: his wife Ruth Deardorff Elder; his parents, Laverne Elder and Naomi Elder (Keller); and his siblings, Kenneth Elder, Terry Elder and Betty Houser.
He is survived by: his sons, Richard Scott Elder (Cindy) and Wayne David Elder; his grandchildren, Jeremy Michael Elder, Bishop Elder and Logan Deatrick; his great grandchildren, Hendricks Hayden Elder, Rowan Orion Elder, Walker James Deatrick and Beau Luke Elder; and his brothers, Charles Elder (Linda) and Donald Elder (Randi). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Murphy-Beck Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc. (501 Ridge Ave, McSherrystown, PA 17344). A celebration of life was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Murphy-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc. (501 Ridge Ave, McSherrystown, PA 17344).
