He was predeceased by: his parents, Espy A. Barnes and Edna A. Barnes (Miller); and his brothers, Espy Alvie Barnes, Charles Barnes and Richard Barnes.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Barnes (Hershberger); his children, Karen Watkins (Earl), Bryan Barnes (Donna), Randy Barnes (Lynne) and Russell Barnes (Candi); and his sister Mary Edna Smith. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and 3 step-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Russell's memory may be made to Wolf's Covenant Church.
