Kevin E. Cahill Obituary
Kevin Edwin Cahill (PG, AAG, AAPG), age 87, passed away at home on September 30, 2021. He was the loving husband of Shirley Jo (Potocnik-Toeller) Cahill.
Kevin was born in Iowa City, Iowa on December 13, 1933 and was the son of the late William and Marie (Mackey) Cahill. Kevin was selected All-State in high school football in Iowa and recruited by Bear Bryant (Alabama) and Frank Leahy (Notre Dame). After graduating with a masters' degree in geology and attending law school from the University of Iowa, Kevin went on to proudly serve 3 years active duty in the United States Air Force, graduating first of his class in flight school at Graham Air Force Base in Florida. After his time in the Air Force, he started working for Texaco and then later for First Mississippi performing oil and gas exploration field work in Nebraska, Alabama, Louisiana and Texas. Kevin became Division Director of the Mississippi Mining and Reclamation Department, was a member of the American Association of Geologists, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and was past president of the Mississippi Geological Society. He enjoyed reading history books from his library of over 1500 titles. Kevin was also a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in York, PA.
In addition to his wife Shirley, Kevin is survived by his daughter Corinne Cahill; his stepdaughter Resa Toeller; his stepson Bill Toeller and wife Carol; his step-grandchildren Mike and wife Amber, Chris and wife Amy, and Lauren; and his step-great-grandchildren Liam, Jack and Julia. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family services are being held privately under the direction of Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc. of East York.
