He was predeceased by: his former wife Mary Golovko; and his son Robert Hicks. He is survived by: his wife Jean Roberts; his children, Elizabeth "Liz" Hicks, Sophie Marchand (Trigger) and Andrew "Andy" Hicks (Yvonne); his grandsons, Andrew and Seamus; and his nieces and nephews, Allen, Aloris, Gary and David.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the American Legion.
