He was predeceased by: his parents, John Homet Howard and Harriet Taylor Howard; his brother John Homet Howard, Jr.; and his son-in-law John A. Guttin. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Howard; his children, James Howard Jr., Homets Ferry, Edwin Howard (Gale) of Breesport, NY, Kay Way (Ruby) of Lime Hill, PA, Frederick Howard (Karen) of Carson City, NV and Kenneth Howard (Julie) of Summerfield, FL; his grandchildren, James Howard III (Erica), Cheryl McHone, Jenny Ferris (Jerad), Kevin Howard, Alissa Quick (Matt), Scott Bulizak (Nicky), Tyler Howard, John Guttin (Wendy), Andrew Guttin, Tara Gregg (Wesley), Kara Jarrett (Paul), Kristin Howard, Daniel Howard (Colleen), Keith Howard (Chelsea) and Claire Roof (Dakota); his great grandchildren, Taylor, Brooke Howard, Hunter, Avalynne McHone, Blake, Evan, Kaylin Ferris, Kaitlyn, Ryan Quick, Madalyn, Bellamy Bulizak, Aiden Smith, Landon Guttin, Elliot, Easton, Dani Gregg, Ava, Jackson Jarrett, Eli, Evelina Howard and Lukas Howard; and his siblings, Lucy Lockwood, William Howard, Theresa Brennan and Charles Howard. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
