He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Slagle and Caroline Slagle (Engstrom); and his siblings, Jean Franek and Robert Slagle. He is survived by: his wife Jacklyn Slagle; his children, Rick Slagle (Judy), Jill Waters (Dale) and Alyson Stoddard (Larry); his stepchildren, Robert Skinner (Terri) and Kathy Ellwood (Mark); his grandchildren, Trib Slagle, Amie Slagle, Nick Waters, Andrea Cerrillo-Keelin, Dru Freeborough, Dane Freeborough, Mark Bronke, Ken Bronke, Samantha Buzzelli, Michael Ellwood, Thomas Ellwood and Jackie Ellwood; his sister Carol Swartz (Leo); and his siblings-in-law, Mark Frank and Joanne Slagle. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
