He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Elmo and Helen Elmo; and his brother Joseph "Skip" Elmo. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy "Dot" Elmo; and his sons, Ronnie Elmo (Melissa) of Philadelphia and Michael Elmo of Brooklyn.

“Dot & family - My sincere condolences. I was in CSFC beginning back in the 80s when Ron was Deputy Chief for a while, and I was involved as we bought a few trucks from Guardian. He always had a big smile and a great attitude, and he served as a great example for the firefighters. I had fallen out of touch with him, especially after I moved out of Blue Bell. But he was the type of guy who others would easily follow into danger. That says a lot. Bob Hall”
